This illustration is a part of my commemorative postage stamp collection, which acknowledges the giants who have not only paved the way for me in society, but who have also impacted my life and influenced my way of thinking through the jewels that they have left behind. It is because of their legacy that I have the pleasure of climbing upon the shoulders of these giants. As my way of saying thank you, I dedicate and acknowledge these individuals in order to educate others and inspiring them to keep their names alive.
Ever since I read "The Autobiography of Malcolm X" as told to Alex Haley, my life has changed and my respect for Malcolm has grown. His determination of self-education is what influences me the most. To understand how he went from being totally illiterate, to becoming the intellectual he was until his transition has always amazed me. This is why I chose to create this illustration of Malcolm.
